Erwin Hayer’s comments about
the Sacramento Area Council Of Governments (SACOG) Workshop on the
Metropolitan
Transportation Plan 2030 (MTP 2030) held on 25 May 2006.
The participants
were
assigned a table upon arrival. My Table was number 4 and consisted of
two High
School students, one lady from the North Sacramento Area, one disabled
man, two
SACOG Facilitators and myself. I believe there were 15 tables with 5 to
6
persons and a facilitator at each table.
Most tables selected the Medium Distance Map. None (a first
according to
the facilitator) chose the Longer Distance Map.
Three Sacramento
County Maps were
given to each workshop participants table. Each map represented the
total
expenditure of the revenue for transportation improvements through
2030. A 300
Million additional tax amount could possible be available.
The workshop
participants
were asked to make any changes that they thought would improve the
transportation prospects within Sacramento County. No information was given to the workshop
participants
about the transportation prospects outside of Sacramento County.
One
thing I noticed right
away was:
--- Sixteenth
Street
from
Interstate 80 north to the county line had no improvements for the
short
distance commuting map through 2030.
--- Sixteenth
Street
from
Interstate 80 north to the county line was shown as 4 lanes on the
medium
distance commuting map through 2030.
--- Sixteenth
Street
from
Interstate 80 north to the county line was shown as 6 lanes on the
longer
distance commuting map through 2030.
I
believe most of the
commuting to and from jobs from the Elverta Specific Plan and Placer
Vineyards
will fall into the 10 plus miles or longer distance trips.
I have
scanned the Rio
Linda/Elverta area of the three maps and the map legend. See below.
SHORTER
DISTANCE Map with
commute and shopping trips of 3 miles or less per day average.

This map shows a 4 lane Elkhorn Boulevard from Sixteenth Street to State Route 70/99 and a 4 lane Elverta Road from Watt Avenue to a new interchange at State Route 70/99.
MEDIUM
DISTANCE Map with
commute and shopping trips of 3 to 10 miles per day average.
http://riolinda.info/traffic/MTP2030_MediumDistanceMap.jpg
This Map shows the same as
the Shorter Distance Map with the addition of a 4 lane Raley Boulevard/Sixteenth Street from Interstate 80, across the Dry Creek Parkway and on to the Placer County Line.
LONGER
DISTANCE Map with
commute and shopping trips of 10 miles plus per day average.
http://riolinda.info/traffic/MTP2030_LongDistanceMap.jpg
This map shows the same as
the Medium Distance Map except Raley Boulevard/Sixteenth Street is now 6 lanes from Interstate 80, across
the Dry
Creek Parkway and on to the Placer County Line.
Notice
NO improvements to Dry Creek Road, Marysville Boulevard or Rio Linda
Boulevard are indicated on any of the 3 maps.
Included
with the maps were:

I could
not personally say
any of the maps applied to me because I do not make daily trips to any
where as
I am retired.
Also,
all of the above is to
the best of my knowledge, true and accurate.
